Paco Minuesa

Life, style & influence

Paco Minuesa was born in Jaen, in Andalusia in 1955.
His early works show a palpable love towards humanity, a characteristic that will remain the essential facet of his output.
He develops his art by revisiting Old Masters’ works, especially Leonardo’s, Vermeer’s, Velazquez’s. Then for years, he has been working as a cartoonist and caricaturist for El Pais.
His artistic skills bring him to two parallel paths focusing on his vision, namely “Daily Miracles”. Paco Minuesa holds that every moment is precious and unique, because none will ever recur in the same way. If one learns to look at life with a keen eye, one will perceive that each and every life’s moment is extraordinary.
His work thus centers on two key points:
On the one hand it celebrates scenes of everyday life, whose source materials are the photography shots he takes while roaming the streets of the world.
On the other hand it has a penchant for surrealism, inviting us to reflect on the human conditions.
Paco Minuesa has an immense sensibility to capture, amidst the hustle and bustle of life, moments of refined poetry and cues for deep reflections.
Thanks to his technical prowess, he can translate all these emotions onto the canvas, with stunning end results.
